Hello visitors! I am a Speech-Language Pathologist who works with students with Asperger Syndrome, PDD-NOS, “high” functioning autism, and other related social/emotional skill needs. My primary roles are to teach social skills, support development of emotion understanding and management, support receptive and expressive language skills – especially through a literacy lens, and occassionally work on some speech articulation needs. My setting is in a suburban elementary school with students ranging in age from kindergarten to 5th grade. I also spend a great deal of professional time consulting, speaking to various groups, and training educators. I have spent fifteen years working with kids mostly on the autism spectrum, specializing in the areas of intervention for social cognitive deficits, building relationship interaction skills, increasing emotion awareness and management, reducing anxiety, and targeting receptive-expressive language skills. I am employed by the Apple Valley-Eagan-Rosemount school district, a suburb of Minneapolis/St. Paul, in Minnesota as a Speech-Language Pathologist, Social Skill Teacher and ASD Staff Trainer. I reside in Apple Valley, Minnesota with my husband and my two sons. When I am not immersed in my work, I am shuttling my sons, crafting or reading.
That is a little about me personally, I hope you enjoy the site! – Jill
